James A. Bannon, Pharm D., President and CEO
Dr. Bannon is an experienced industry executive with a history of successful performance who understands both the technical and business aspects of clinical research. Over his career, he has oversight and responsibilities for research programs involving hundreds of products across a broad range of therapeutic areas and medical specialties.
Prior to Vigilare International, Dr. Bannon was Group President for several late-stage Covance businesses including Clinical, Central Diagnostics, IVRS and Peri-approval Services. These businesses delivered clinical trial services globally to more than 35 countries. With over 25-years of clinical research experience, Dr. Bannon has held positions of increasing responsibility in operations and executive management.
Dr. Bannon received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science Degree and Doctorate in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
Angela K. Pitwood, MBA, Vice President
Ms. Pitwood is responsible for the ongoing development and management of Vigilare International’s pharmacovigilance operations. With over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Ms. Pitwood is a healthcare professional who offers her clients the assurance that their safety and pharmacovigilance programs are being managed by a seasoned pharmacovigilance executive with experience in developing, implementing and leading global safety operations.
Ms. Pitwood has both industry and CRO experience and was formerly Vice President of Drug Safety Surveillance at Pfizer Inc., where she successfully developed and led multiple therapeutic area teams and support functions for the management of adverse event reporting for human health, including all phases of a product life cycle (drugs, vaccines and devices). Ms. Pitwood developed and led these activities using a combination model of in-house staff at three global locations – U.S., Europe and Asia and three off-shored safety operations vendor sites in the US and Asia.
George S. Brenner, MBA, CPA, Vice President, Finance and Administration
Mr. Brenner is a financial professional with over thirty years experience in business administration and finance, primarily in the Contract Services industry. He is a results-driven, decisive leader with proven success in strategic thinking, problem solving and a track record of realizing double digit revenue growth and operating margin for 10+ year. A strong believer in training staff, he developed an internal project accounting training program for the clinical project; as well as implementing the Corning Total Quality Management Program which resulted in the division winning the “Houghton Award” which is an award given to highest achieving division participating in the Corning Quality program. He continued his mentorship of the project managers at Covance which resulted in their being the top project management group in all of Covance.
Mr. Brenner is a respected financial veteran with top-tier experience in contract research organizations (CROs). Prior to joining Vigilare, George held positions as Senior Vice President Global Business Services at Numoda Corporation, Vice President, at United BioSource Corporation (UBC), Chief Financial Officer at RadPharm, Inc., Vice President, Finance and Administration at Covance – Periapproval Division, and Vice President of Finance for the Philadelphia Association for Clinical Trials (PACT), Director Corporate Audit and Control, Presbyterian University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, and Audit Supervisor with Deloitte and Touche.
Mr. Brenner earned his B.S. degree in accounting as well as his MBA from LaSalle University.
